Hotmail's Sabeer Bhatia Slams Indian Engineers: "99% Just Give Gyaan"

In a recent podcast, Sabeer Bhatia, co-founder of Hotmail, raised concerns about India's engineering education system and work culture, pointing to a lack of hands-on experience, critical thinking, and real innovation. “99% of Indian engineering graduates move into management roles and start giving ‘gyaan' to everyone. But where's the work ethic? Where are the people building real products with their own hands?” Mr Bhatia asked. He criticised the glorification of business figures who focus on outsourcing over genuine software development. “We celebrate people who promote body shopping, not original software. Somehow, they become India's software gurus—despite not writing any code themselves.” Mr Bhatia emphasized that for India to become a truly innovative nation, it must rethink how it values technical skills. “Till we change our work ethic and we actually start doing work with our own hands and start respecting people who write software, who write code, who do thin...

Arvind Kejriwal On The 3 Promises He "Could Not Fulfil"

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday admitted that he could not fulfil three promises - cleaning of Yamuna river, providing clean drinking water and making Delhi's roads of European standard.

He said these tasks will be carried out in the next five years if AAP is re-elected in the assembly polls.

Addressing a gathering in Laxmi Bai Nagar, Mr Kejriwal reminded people of his promises and assured that the AAP government is working towards their completion.

"I am truthful to my promises. Either I fulfil them or I remind them that I promised but couldn't do it. I could not fulfill three promises - first cleaning the Yamuna, second, providing clean drinking water and third making Delhi's roads of European standards.

Mr Kejriwal said the work of cleaning Yamuna will be accomplished in two to three years.

"A lot of work has been done...Yamuna will be cleaned in the next two to three years. About 24-hour drinking water supply, this has been started in a colony of Rajendra Nagar. I inaugurated it...Now we will do it for all areas of Delhi. We will improve the quality of roads. All these 3 works will be completed in the next five years," he said.

Mr Kejriwal spoke of the AAP government's work for improving schools and the power situation.

"In the summer of 2014, there used to be power cuts for 10 hours. We have made sure that Delhi receives electricity for 24 hours. BJP has government in 20 states yet they don't provide electricity for 24 hours. Delhi also has the cheapest electricity," Mr Kejriwal said.

"We have provided good education to children. No government focused on government schools. We have built amazing government schools. Last year the result of government schools was 99.7 per cent. Private schools had 92 per cent results. I believe there's no bigger patriotic work than providing free and good education," he added.

Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 5 and votes will be counted on February 8.

A "Young Child" Being Targeted: Kamal Haasan On 'Sanatana' Remark Row

Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan on Friday said DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin is being "hounded" for his remark on Sanatana Dharma. Addressing a party meet in Coimbatore, Mr Haasan, without naming Udhayanidhi, the BJP or any other outfit, said a "young child" is being targeted today as he had spoken about Sanatana Dharma. Indicating that there is nothing new about the minister's remark on Sanatana Dharma, the actor implied that several leaders of the Dravidian movement such as Udhayanidhi's grandfather and late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi have also spoken about it in the past. Mr Haasan said the extent of reformist leader Periyar  V Ramasamy's anger against social ills can be understood from the leader's life. He said people like himself understood the word 'Sanatana' only due to Periyar. Though Periyar had been the administrator of a temple and had even performed puja while in Kashi, he gave up...
