Dhoni "Replaced Me...": India Star On Being Legendary Captain's Understudy

MS Dhoni 's rise started a new chapter in Indian cricket. The youngster from Ranchi, Jharkhand, who rose to become a giant in world cricket is an inspiration to many. A few months before Dhoni's debut for India in December, 2004, against Bangladesh, another wicketkeeper-batter started his journey for the Men in Blue. His name was Dinesh Karthik . He made his debut in an ODI against England at Lord's in September, 2004. However, Dhoni's dominance was such that Karthik soon became an understudy of the former India skipper.  While Dhoni went on to win three ICC title as India captain, Karthik worked hard and is still playing at the top level. He even played the 2022 T20 World Cup for India. Recently, Karthik shared his thoughts on making his debut at a time when Dhoni-mania was just starting. "I made my debut before him. We went together on an India A tour and from there I got picked for the Indian team, he was still there in India A team," Karthik said on the

The budget session of the state legislature, which begins on Monday, will end on March 25. The opposition parties - the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and the Congress - boycotted the tea party hosted by the government on Sunday. Speaking to reporters here later, CM Shinde said, "In a way, it was good that the opposition did not turn for the high tea when some of them have ties with terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. Instead of calling our (Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party) alliance as anti-Maharashtra, will you not call such people anti-nationals? There are some people in the opposition parties who have had ties with Haseen Parkar, sister of Dawood Ibrahim." Shinde

India Set To Replace Rahul With Gill In Third Test vs Australia: Report

India batter KL Rahul 's prolonged slump in form is likely to cost him his place for the third test against Australia with demands growing for Shubman Gill 's inclusion for the match in Indore. India have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 2-0 lead in the four-test series but Rahul's form has been a major concern for Rohit Sharma 's team. With a highest score of 23 in his last 10 test innings, Rahul's place has become untenable as India chase a third successive victory that would seal their place in the final of the World Test Championship in June. "I have tremendous admiration for the class of Rahul, in fact I call him Rolls Royce Rahul," former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth told the Times of India newspaper. "But it is just not happening for him at the moment. If I was the chairman of selectors, I would have gone up to him and told him to take a break..." "US Notified About Biden's Visit To Kyiv But...": Russian Security Chief

Russia gave no security guarantees to US President Joe Biden during his unannounced visit to war-torn Ukraine, Russian intelligence agency director Alexander Bortnikov said on Tuesday. President Biden visted Kyiv on Monday for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine almost a year ago. "Indeed, the United States notified Russia about Biden's visit to Kiev - via diplomatic channels. But we gave no guarantees of his security," Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Bortnikov said in an interview with the Shot Telegram channel. Russia was informed about the trip a few hours before President Biden's departure for "deconfliction purposes", a US official said. Bortnikov said that Russian and US special services continue to cooperate, especially in what concerns the fight against international terrorism. "This cooperation continues. Naturally, it is not at the level it used to be at so no one benefits from it. All of us are interested in maintaining t

Imran Khan Appears Before Court Amid High Drama, No Arrest For Now

Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan on Monday appeared before the Lahore High Court which granted him protective bail in a case linked to violent protests outside the election commission, amidst high drama inside the court premises where hundreds of his supporters converged to show solidarity with him. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activists staged a violent protest after 70-year-old Khan was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the prohibited funding case last year. "Common Enemy Of All Religions Is Hatred": Supreme Court On Hate Speech

Not all speech is hate speech and it has to be decided which statements or speeches come under that definition, the Supreme Court said today while hearing a petition demanding action in cases of hate speech. A two-judge bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagarathna said two days ago, they had put a freeze on the proceedings against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a case filed in 2014. During an election campaign, Mr Kejriwal had apparently said "Those who believe in Khuda will not be pardoned by Khuda if they vote for the BJP". Citing the case, the judges said, "Not everything said amounts to hate speech". The court should exercise caution as there is no definition of hate speech and has to rely on allied provisions of the Indian Penal Code for its interpretation.    The petition, filed on behalf of one Shaheen Abdullah, said at a recent programme held in Haryana's Mewat, thousands of Bajrang Dal members took a pledge to use "Trishul" to pro
