The Special Investigation Team investigating the murder of Mukesh Chandrakar, whose body was found in a septic tank last week, has said the journalist was killed by his cousins who were enraged by his reportage on corruption in road construction contracts, some of which involved them. Mukesh, an independent journalist who also contributed to NDTV, practised his craft in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division, an area which is notoriously difficult for reporters. A 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were allegedly killed by her family, who later tried to stage the murders as suicide, in a suspected case of hate crime in Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur district on New Year's Eve, police said on Monday. The woman's father, mother and uncle have been arrested and a detailed investigation is underway, the police added.   The victims were identified as Mithun Kushwaha and Kamini Sahu.  The incident took place in Bigha village in Jakhaura area, under Lalitpur police station. According to Lalitpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Mushtaq, Sahu's family did not approve of her relationship with Kushwaha. Both Sahu and Kushwaha's families did not want the two to be together.  A panchayat was earlier held, where Kushwaha was directed to stay away from the village till Sahu got married. A dog walker in the UK tragically fell 600 feet to his death from the peak of Helvellyn, one of the Lake District's tallest mountains, according to a report in The Telegraph . The unnamed man was reported missing by his wife after he went on a walk with his black labrador. As per the police, the wife had been tracking her husband's progress on the phone but noticed he had not moved for a few hours, which prompted her to inform the authorities. The search operation involved seven mountain teams, two coastguard and rescue helicopters probing the numerous routes leading to Helvellyn's summit, where his phone last signalled.
