India's quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry is showing early signs of demand recovery, but Macquarie highlights rising costs and intensifying competition from food-delivery aggregators as reasons for its cautiousness. According to Macquarie, post-fourth-quarter trends indicate a gradual improvement in dine-in demand across restaurant chains. Within the sector, Macquarie remains most constructive on franchise operators Devyani International, Sapphire Foods and Westlife Foodworld. However, the recovery remains uneven and is being overshadowed by inflationary pressures and the growing dominance of delivery platforms such as Zomato and Swiggy. Popular Malayalam film actor and former Lok Sabha MP, Innocent died on Sunday. He was 75 years old.
Innocent was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and had been hospitalised earlier this month after having difficulties breathing.
Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor condoled the former Lok Sabha MP's death and said that he was a brilliantly inventive and gifted actor.
"Mourning the loss of character actor, comedian & one-time Kerala MP Innocent, who has just passed away at age 75. Aside from being a brilliantly inventive and gifted actor, he was a fine human being whom it was a pleasure to interact with in the Lok Sabha. RIP. Om Shanti," Mr Tharoor said on Twitter.
