BCCI Breaks Silence On Team India's Asian Games Accommodation Controversy

The Indian cricketers competing at the upcoming Asian Games in Japan will stay at the designated accommodation arranged by the Organising Committee though they are not the five-star hotels they usually get on foreign tours, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said on Tuesday. Shukla said the issue on the accommodation of the hotels for the cricketers had arisen due to the scarcity of top-rated hotels in Nagoya. He, however, said accommodation of the cricketers was not a big issue and the BCCI and the players are satisfied with the arrangement. "Whatever they (organisers) are providing, we are staying there and we are keeping a watch what kind of accommodation is being given so that our players are comfortable. Definitely those are not of five-star but a good accommodation," Shukla said at the send-off ceremony of the Indian contingent . "Whatever has been offered to our cricketers that accommodation we have got the photographs all the way and the videos also of that, s...

3 Men Steal Accident Victim's Bike, Leave Him For Dead. This Happened Next

Three men spot a bleeding man in the dead of night in Delhi. Rather than helping him, they see an opportunity in his suffering and steal his motorbike, leaving him alone on the road, to die. But then Karma boomerangs on them. On January 11, Vikas was riding his motorbike on the Mehrauli-Gurugram road when it skidded and dragged for a few metres near Ghitorni in southwest Delhi around 3 am. Thereafter, Uday Kumar, Tinku and Parambir - residents of Fatehpur Beri - crossed the area. They saw the injured man lying on the road but instead of helping, they stole his bike and fled. Vikas bled to death. In a turn of fate, however, the three men also met with an accident shortly after. Uday Kumar is currently in a coma while Tinku and Parambir are injured but stable. The men are drug addicts, said police. The CCTV cameras installed near the accident site have been seized by the police and a probe is underway. The case brings back memories of a similar incident in 2023 when a 30-year-old doc...

UK Minister Quits After Being Named In Probe Against Sheikh Hasina

Anti-corruption minister Tulip Siddiq resigned from the UK government Tuesday after being named in graft probes in Bangladesh launched when her aunt, Sheikh Hasina, was ousted as the country's leader. In a letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Siddiq repeated she had done nothing wrong but said continuing in office would likely "be a distraction from the work of the government". Siddiq, 42, has been dogged by claims about her links to Hasina, who fled Bangladesh in August after a student-led uprising against her decades-long, increasingly authoritarian tenure as prime minister. Hasina, 77, has defied extradition requests to face Bangladeshi charges including of mass murder. On Monday, Bangladesh's Anti-Corruption Commission announced she and family members, including Siddiq, were subject to another graft probe, this time over an alleged land grab of lucrative plots in a suburb of the capital Dhaka. Family members including Siddiq had already emerged as named tar...

Upset Over Being Replaced From His Seat, Delhi MLA Makes It To 3rd BJP List

BJP rushed to placate the outgoing MLA from Karawal Nagar after the ticket from his current seat was given to Kapil Mishra. Mohan Singh Bisht was then given a ticket from Mustafabad in the third list of candidates released on Sunday, ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly election. Mr Bisht, who has won all except one assembly election from Karawal Nagar since 1998, had earlier said, "The BJP thinks they will field anyone and he will win. This is a big mistake. You have challenged the 'samaj' (his Uttarakhandi community), not Mohan Singh Bisht. The BJP will lose at least 8-10 seats because of this decision, including Karawal Nagar, Burari, Mustafabad and Gokalpuri." Later, Mr Bisht expressed confidence that he would win the Mustafabad seat for the BJP. "I met the national president and things were ironed out. I have assured that I will contest from Mustafabad and win the seat for the party," Bisht told PTI. The MLA said he and the BJP had considerable supp...
